Constance Violette deSchuytner
December 28, 1938 – August 8, 2025
Constance Violette deSchuytner (née Lemire), 86, of Dover, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on December 28, 1938, Constance (fondly known as Connie) was a longtime resident of Dover and a devoted member of St. Charles Church, where she joyfully sang in the choir for many years. Her beautiful voice was a reflection of her deep faith and her love of music, bringing comfort and inspiration to those who heard her.
Constance had a gift for making others feel at ease. She was known for her quick wit, warm smile, and the ability to share a laugh in any situation. A talented baker and cook, she filled her home with the comforting aromas of her kitchen.
While she held many roles in her lifetime, her most cherished was her role as mother and mémère. Her greatest joy came from working with children. Whether through her years in the local schools as part of the Foster Grandparent Program, nurturing young minds and hearts, or in the countless moments shared with her own family, Connie always retained her sense of childlike wonder. She believed deeply in the importance of kindness, patience, and joy, values she instilled in her children and all those she cared for.
She is survived by her children, Marc Rousseau and wife Carolyn of St. Augustine, FL; Lisa McNierney and husband Christopher of Durham, ME; Anne Gill and husband Thomas of Naples, FL; Thomas deSchuytner of Durham, NH; and Catherine Craig and husband Duncan of Portsmouth, NH. She is also survived by her stepchildren, Kevin deSchuytner of South Berwick, ME; Patrick deSchuytner and wife Carol of Atlanta, GA; Ann Metcalf and husband John of Rollingsford, NH; Maureen Wade and husband David of Newmarket, NH; and Joseph deSchuytner and wife Nancy of Fayetteville, NC, as well as her two loving siblings, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Lt. Col. Victor R. deSchuytner, USMC; her brother, Donald Lemire; and stepchildren Victor deSchuytner II and Mary Garland.
Constance will be remembered for her faith, her humor, her generosity of spirit, and the way she made the world brighter simply by being in it. Her laughter and songs will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church located at 25 Chestnut St in Dover, NH, on August 21, 2025 at 10am, with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Manchester, NH. Calling hours will be held at Tasker Funeral Home in Dover, NH on Wednesday, August 20th from 6-8pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Connie's name to Hyder Hospice House, whose compassionate care helped her make her final journey with dignity and grace.
