Constance Jean "Connie" Hostetter Stott

Constance "Connie" Jean Hostetter Stott was born on April 18, 1942, in Manassa, Colorado, to Merl and Wilma McKenzie Hostetter. She passed peacefully in her home in Tooele, Utah, on January 7, 2025, surrounded by loved ones on both sides of the veil. A loving mother, sister, aunt, cousin, grandmother and great-grandmother, her family meant the world to her, including her son's friend, Tony Hancock, and his family, whom she loved as her own. She considered him a son and loved being called "Mom" and "Grandma" by Tony, Gracia and their kids.
She was raised in Manassa, Colorado and Farmington, New Mexico with one older brother, William "Rick", and 2 younger brothers, Kenneth and Randy.
School Connie graduated from Farmington High School, June 1, 1960, and attended college at BYU.
Two jobs that she spoke often about were being a stewardess and working as a paralegal. While working for a small airline company part-time as a stewardess, she trained to become a paralegal. She was a paralegal for a combined 58 years in both Salt Lake City, Utah and Delta, Utah. While working for Waddingham & Associates in Delta, she made lifelong friends with her co-workers, two of whom are Jetta Swalberg and Marinda Willoughby.
Connie married the love of her life, Nyle Wesley Stott on September 14, 1963, later solemnized in the Manti Temple. She had 2 children, Michelle "Shelleigh" and Mitchell Nyle. Together with her husband, she taught her children the value of hard work, instilled in them the importance of service to family and community, and created a home full of love and adventure. Her beloved Nyle passed away on January 14, 2020.
She loved serving in her church callings, going to the temple and doing genealogy. She spent countless hours as a volunteer indexing genealogical records until her hands couldn't type anymore.
Her hobbies included working in her yard where she created a beautiful, weed-free desert oasis and created a patio outside her home by laying 2000 bricks by hand. She loved making heavy, warm denim quilts for her children and grandchildren, sewing, and camping with her family in her beloved desert.
On family camping trips, she created priceless memories with the grandkids by doing fun activities like making Zip-lock ice cream and other treats.
Connie and Nyle were heavily involved in their community in Millard County. They were a part of the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and participated in countless emergency preparedness events. She also became a HAM radio operator, which served her well during frequent long trips she took across the desert.
Connie was preceded in death by her husband Nyle, her parents, 2 infant siblings, Marjorie and Stanley, her daughter Michelle, her brother Ken, her husband's siblings, Frances Stott Gale and Yvonne Stott Parkinson and their husbands. She is survived by her son, Mitchell (Anne), 2 brothers, William "Rick" (Diane) Hostetter and Randy (Fran) Hostetter, sister-in-law Karen Hostetter, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins and many nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones including her former daughter-in-law, Deanma Doyle, whom she loved dearly for the rest of her life.
Funeral services, under the direction of Premier Funeral Services, will be held January 18, 2025, at 1:02 pm in the Overlake 2nd Ward Chapel, 1717 Berra Blvd, Tooele, Utah. There will be a viewing prior to the service at 12pm. After the service, her wish to be cremated will be honored and her ashes will be interred with her husband at Memorial Redwood Cemetery at a later date.
Her family wishes to thank Harmony Home Health and Hospice for the compassionate and loving care they showed to them and to Connie during her final days. They would also like to thank the Overlake 2nd Ward for loving and fellowshipping Connie during her time in the ward.
