Constance "Connie" Hartvig Kleindienst

July 16, 1933 – June 20, 2025

Constance "Connie" Hartvig Kleindienst, 91, of Blairstown, NJ, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on July 16, 1933, in Brooklyn, NY, to the late Hartvig and Kristine Kristensen Roed, Connie grew up in the Fort Hamilton section of Brooklyn, where she spent her formative years before moving to Stillwater, NJ.

Connie's father purchased property in Stillwater, where he built a family cottage. It was in this serene setting that Connie spent many cherished weekends and summers. It was also in Stillwater where she met her future husband, Herman. The couple later married and made Stillwater their home, where they raised their family on Stone Bridge Farm and created a life full of love and cherished memories. In 1972 the family moved to Blairstown where her love of gardening transferred their woodland home into a garden setting.

Her home and yard were a testament to her love of homemaking. Connie's many talents included creating stained glass of amazing quality. Her Blairstown home has her work displayed in several windows. She won a pie baking contest at the local county fair. Her talents in the kitchen were evident in the meals she prepared and the desserts that she baked. Feeding her family home grown nutritious meals was a priority for her. Connie also loved working with wood, creating all on her own, decorative bookshelves, footstools and much more. She had her very own tools and woodshop.

Connie was a founding member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Blairstown, NJ, where she and Herman played a key role in establishing the church and seeing it built from the ground up. The church community was an integral part of her life, and she was proud to have been a charter member.

Above all, Connie's greatest joy was her family. She and Herman made it a priority to create special memories, taking their loved ones on vacations and trips to New York City for culture and shared time together. She was very generous, supporting numerous charities.

Connie's immediate family consists of her children, Susan Meagher, husband Don, Roy Kleindienst, wife Anita, Rich Kleindienst, wife Carol, her beloved grandchildren, Seth Washburn, wife Lisa, Erin (Washburn) Sudol, Shane Kleindienst, wife Devon, Kyle Kleindienst, wife Emily, and Ryan Kleindienst, her great-grandchildren, Max, Logan and Odin, also many nieces and nephews and extended family members and was loved by all.

She was predeceased by her husband, Herman, her parents, her sister May Hashagen and her grandson Shane Kleindienst.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit the family from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, June 26th, at the Newbaker Funeral Home, 200 Route 94, Blairstown (Columbia GPS), NJ and again Friday 9:30-10:30AM. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 27th, at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 168 State Route 94, Blairstown, NJ. Interment will follow at Stillwater Cemetery in Stillwater, NJ. A reception luncheon will be held in the fellowship hall of the church following the internment.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Connie's memory to the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 168 State Route 94, Blairstown, NJ 07825.
