Constance "Connie" (Leonardi) Maccarone, age 96, of Salisbury, MA, passed away peacefully at Avita of Newburyport, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, July 10, 2025. She was the beloved wife of the late Alfred Maccarone, and the daughter of the late Anthony and Jennie (Polizzotti) Leonardi. Connie was born, raised, and educated in Lawrence, MA, and was a graduate of Lawrence High School, Class of 1945. She later graduated from Lawrence Academy of Beauty Culture. She was employed as a Tax Examiner with the I.R.S. for more than twenty years until her retirement. While employed, she received many awards and was the recipient of the "Albert Gallatin Award" from the U. S. Dept. of the Treasury. She was a member of the I.R.S. Andover Service Center retirees. In 1987, she moved to Salisbury Beach, where together with her husband, she created a wonderful home for her family. She enjoyed traveling having visited many States in the U.S. and several countries in Europe. She was an avid reader, sports fan (especially the Boston Red Sox) and enjoyed going to Foxwoods Casino. Known by all who knew and loved her as "Aunty Connie", she was a member of Holy Rosary Church in Lawrence and attended Star of the Sea Church in Salisbury. In addition to her husband and her parents, Connie was predeceased by her son Alfred and his wife Coleen; brother Maurice Leonardi and stepmother Josephine (LaScola) Leonardi. She is survived by her grandson, Aaron Maccarone and his wife Amber, great-granddaughter, Isabella Maccarone, several loving nieces and nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews as well great-great nieces and great-great nephews all of whom adored her dearly. The Family would like to sincerely thank the caring staff at Avita of Newburyport and Compassus Hospice who provided Connie with such joy, warm embrace and compassionate care. St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105 Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Visiting Hours on Friday, July 18, 2025, between 8:30 AM -10:30 AM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street, Methuen. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM at St. Lucy Church, 254 Merrimack Street, Methuen. Interment will follow in Bellevue Cemetery in Lawrence.
