Obituary published on Legacy.com by Whiting's Funeral Home - Williamsburg on Oct. 29, 2025.
Constance "Connie" Yvonne White entered this world on January 20, 1957, in St. Louis, Missouri, the beloved daughter of the late Harvey Rhodes and Malissa Withers-a precious gift whose light would touch countless hearts. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend, she lived with a heart full of grace and a spirit deeply anchored in faith. On October 21, 2025, at the age of 68, Constance went home to eternal rest, leaving behind a legacy of love that will forever guide and strengthen her family.
She was united in marriage to her soulmate, Joe White Jr., on December 23, 1973, and together they shared 52 beautiful years-a journey woven with laughter, resilience, and a love that stood the test of time. Joe remains to honor her memory and cherish the precious moments they built side by side.
Joe and Constance were abundantly blessed with four children: Joe Lamont White, Stephen Maurice White, Marquita Yvonne Edmonds, and Shakia Yvonne White. Her legacy lives on through her devoted daughters, her beloved grandchildren-Rodney, Diamond, Biggie, Marcus, Jordan, Maurice, and Markell-and a host of great-grandchildren who will continue to walk in her love and light. She also leaves behind many relatives and dear friends, each holding her memory as a blessing in their hearts.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Joe Lamont White (July 2025) and Stephen Maurice White (April 2011). Their absence left a quiet ache, yet their love remains-woven through every memory, every shared smile, every heartbeat of the family they helped shape.
Constance graduated from C.A. Johnson High School in Columbia, South Carolina, as part of the Class of 1978. She later earned a degree in General Business from CareerCom Junior College of Business in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, graduating with the Class of 1989. As a devoted military wife, she embraced a life of adventure, traveling to many places-including Hawaii-where she met new people and created lifelong friendships. Dedicated and hardworking, she worked as a merchandiser for Nabisco at the Post Exchange on Ft. Eustis Army Base in Virginia, where her kindness and genuine spirit left a lasting impression.
Constance was a woman of creativity and heart. She found joy in oil painting, being a Tupperware representative, and collecting unique items-especially her cherished classic Barbies. She loved listening to music, dancing, cooking, taking and sharing pictures, and spending her quiet moments watching sports and her favorite television shows. More than anything, Constance cherished the holidays and time spent surrounded by family. She lived vicariously through the lives and happiness of those she cared for, finding her greatest joy in their love and accomplishments. Her life was a beautiful reflection of warmth, devotion, and the simple, joyful moments.
As we gather to honor the life of Constance, we reflect on the joy she brought into our lives and the quiet strength she so gracefully embodied. Though she is no longer with us in the physical sense, her spirit endures-in the kindness we extend, the perseverance we uphold, and the enduring love that continues to connect us all.
A service to celebrate Connie's life will be held at noon on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Whiting's Funeral Home, with a viewing beginning at 10:00 a.m.
