Contis Elizabeth (Booker) MARSH was born September 30, 1948, in
Detroit, Michigan and was called home on February 9, 2026. Contis was the Daughter of William E. Booker and Grace (Jennings) Booker who preceded her in death.
Connie was Baptist, confirmed at St. Theresa of Avila in
Detroit, Michigan where she also attended grade school and high school graduating in June 1966. She then continued her education at Wayne State University, also in
Detroit, Michigan.
Her career began at the Associates Finance Company as a Customer Service Representative.
Connie was also employed at Michigan Bell (AT&T) as Customer Service Representative. After taking an entry level job at Detroit Edison (Trenton Channel Power Plant), Connie moved on to Peaker Services and from there, downtown as a Customer Service Representative.
Contis and Terence J. got married in May 1980 and together made their first home in Detroit at Lafayette Towers (West).
In January 1985 when her husband received orders as Commander, Ninth Coast Guard District, personnel in Cleveland, OH, a move was made to
Lakewood, OH. The Carlyle would be their home for the next four years. Connie got a great job at Cleveland Electric and Illuminating Company as what? Customer Service Rep.
Along the way, Connie got another Cornea Transplant (Right Eye) at the Cleveland Clinic in April 1986.
Living in Lakewood (The Carlyle) gave us a front row seats for 1) any storm that was coming up Lake Erie. 2) The Cleveland Air Show at Burke Lakefront Airport. 3) People watching the folks that lived in our building and using the connecting restaurant.
Connie loved music, books and eating. She could read (with her good eyes) over 1000 plus novels in a year. Also, she established a rapport with several Romance Novel writers. So much so, they would email her sections of their new novels to check the structure and flow of their coming book.
There wasn't a murder mystery on TV or a book that Connie didn't read or watch. She really knew human nature. Except for the Knives Out Series. That had her stumped.
Music was her Love Language for expression. Whether Classic, Jazz, Motown, R&B, Easy Listening or Soul. She would chase her favorite artists across counties.
Connie is survived by her husband of 45 years; Terence J. Marsh; and a host of family and friends from all over the country.
