Corena Sue Back

Corena Sue Blodgett Back, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2025. Born and raised in Houston, Texas, to Roy Chester Blodgett and Mary Lois Null Blodgett, she carried the warmth and resilience of her hometown throughout her life. Corena was a competitive swimmer in her youth, swimming freestyle and relay events at Golfcrest Country Club. A proud member of the Gauchos, she graduated from San Jacinto High School in 1956 and went on to attend the University of Texas, where she met her future husband. In 1960, she married Charles Aubrey Back, and together they shared 59 years of love, partnership, and joy. Corena built a varied and successful career-first as a realtor, then as a mortgage processor, and later channeling her passion for history into the antiques industry. Beyond her professional pursuits, she served others with compassion and grace: for more than five years she volunteered at Arlington Memorial Hospital, offering comfort to patients and support to staff. She was also a member of White's Chapel Methodist Church in Southlake, Texas, where her faith was a guiding light to many. Corena is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Aubrey Back, and leaves behind three devoted children: Susan Back, Lisa Schappel, and Charles Back. Corena cherished her grandchildren; Ashley Keith, Michael Schappel, Christopher Back, and Nicholas Back. She took immense pride in her great-grandchildren; Gabriel Schappel, Alexandria Keith, Colin Keith and Callum Keith. Corena's unwavering devotion to her family, her enduring kindness, and her quiet strength touched countless lives. Though she is no longer with us, Corena's legacy of love, wisdom, and generosity lives on in every heart she warmed. She will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always celebrated.
