ALLEN, Corey James, age 13, of Oregonia, passed away Sunday, October 5, 2025.
Corey was a beloved 8th-grade student and member of the class of 2030 at Clinton-Massie Middle School. During this school year, he enjoyed being a part of the junior high golf team. In addition, he found a sense of community and faith through the after-school Bible study group, which he referred to as "Church," led by the youth pastor at Bible Baptist Church, Aaron Faucett, whom Corey particularly looked up to.
Loving, funny, outgoing, caring, mischievous, and often ornery, Corey was extremely honest and never hesitant to apologize or make excuses, even when getting into trouble. He was never shy and made friends easily. Humorously, his family described him as the type of kid who could learn all about strangers while riding up four floors on an elevator, except those same people might request to get off on the 3rd floor due to his inquisitive nature. Corey loved big, had a heart of gold, and a gift for making people smile by bringing joy wherever he was. He had a giving spirit, always putting the needs of others before his own, especially those in need of special help. One of the things his family will never forget was how Corey, every night before bed, would never fail to tell his grandparents he loved them, then come back shortly after to see if they needed anything.
Corey especially loved helping his papaw with anything, from working on cars and the golf cart to tackling projects around the house. Recently, he was enjoying fishing adventures with his neighborhood friend. In addition, he enjoyed playing video games, exploring new things on YouTube, and reading Fun Facts Books for kids, which led him to jubilantly share what he learned with others.
Corey especially loved spending time with his family. Traveling by RV, Corey's grandparents started a fun tradition of enjoying RV camping trips with Corey and his siblings. Some of Corey's favorite camping trips included several trips to Disney World and Universal Studios in Florida, trips to Pigeon Forge in Tennessee, and especially Lakewood Campground Resort at Myrtle Beach, SC. The trips to the resort at Myrtle Beach, which were done at least yearly, and often three times each year, included several of Corey's favorite activities, such as swimming, water slides, paddle boating, and bike riding throughout the resort. The family also enjoyed several Caribbean cruises together. Of course, the family could always count on Corey introducing them to his new friends, which he made very quickly upon arrival. Among many of his favorite traditions, Corey loved hanging out with his cousin, Ben, during the Sunday family dinners at his great-grandmother's house. Corey also enjoyed spending time with extended family during holidays and special events.
He was preceded in death by his father, Justin Corey Allen, and paternal great-grandfather, Forrest Coffey. He is survived by his "Mamaw & Papaw" who raised him, Ron and Julie Peek; two sisters Evalynne and Brooklynne; one brother, Jacob; paternal great-grandma, GeraldineCoffey; Corey's mother, Lindsey Renee Porter; maternal grandma, Jeniene (Bill) Wood; special uncles who had a close relationship with Corey, Zach Allen, Ronnie Peek, and Mike Coffey; special aunt, Ann (Wally) Chaffins; special cousin, Kelli, and her kids who Ben spent Sunday dinners and vacation with, Ben and Alivia; and several additional aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and close friends.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:30 PM on Thursday, October 16, at the Clinton-Massie Middle School Gym. Youth pastor, Aaron Faucett, will be officiating the service. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville is serving the family. The family would like to thank all of those who have shown such love and compassion during this extremely difficult time, especially the many Clinton-Massie Local School District teachers, administrators, support personnel, and classmates.

I didn't know Corey but I know that I would have liked him. I really got a kick out of the elevator remark because I am the same way; inquisitive to a fault. Corey sounded special; I hope that he didn't suffer. Well written tribute!
