It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Corey Anderson, our cherished husband, father, and friend.
Corey, 42, passed away on October 14th, 2024, in Marietta, Georgia.
Born on October 24th, 1981, in Sandy Utah, Corey quickly established his reputation as the class clown. While at school he played on the football team and used his great sense of humor to lighten the lives of many.
After graduating from Jordan High School in 2000, he enlisted in the Army. He served as infantrymen from 2000-2003, in D Co., 1st Battalion, 502nd Regiment 101st Airborne (AIR ASSAULT) Division including a combat tour in Iraq. SPC Anderson was awarded the Army Achievement Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Bar, Expert Badge M4 Rifle, Expert Badge Hand Grenade, Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, Parachutist Badge, and Air Assault Badge. Corey was incredibly proud of serving his nation in peace and in war.
He devoted his life to helping others. He was known for his desire and ability to reach out and serve 'The One.' Corey was truly a disciple of Jesus Christ, given the talent in allowing others to show up as they are. He was God's 'welcoming committee,' and many who met him will say Corey was the first they met allowing them to instantly feel they belonged.
On November 15th 2003 Corey was married to the love of his life Libby VeZolles. Corey saw Libby as the most beautiful thing he had known and knew he needed her by his side. The love they shared allowed them each to show up with their individuality and forge acceptance. Together they have four amazing children. It was easy for all who knew Corey to see how much he loved his family. They were his strength and carried his heart.
In his church community he served as a Young Men Advisor, Sunday School President, and Sunday School Teacher. He made every room he went into a little more lighthearted. He was great at connecting with people. He was able to speak to people about real things in a way that let them know he genuinely cared. Corey cared if people were okay, he asked them at the onset of conversation, and they knew it genuinely mattered to him. Corey was very warmly remembered as the "Girl's Camp Nurse."
Corey was known to be a connector, as a Registered Nurse he used his skills to help care for his patients. He found joy in serving others and sought out opportunities to do whatever he could to lift the hearts and burdens of others.
A loving husband and father, Corey is survived by his loving wife Libby, and his cherished children Cayson(19), Gavin(16), Rowen(13), and Brooklyn(11). Corey was preceded in death by his mother Ramona. Corey also leaves behind his three sisters, Deserae, Kendra and Brianna, and two brother's, K.C. and Cameron, and his Father, Ron.
A memorial service honoring Corey's life will be held on October 19th, at 3155 Trickum Rd, Marietta, GA 30066 at 3pm. A Zoom broadcast option is also available here: https://zoom.us/j/93818927063
