Corey Thomas Gravett, a devoted and beloved husband, father, son and brother, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025, in Columbus, Georgia. He was surrounded by his wife, mother, his soul dog EZ and his mother-in-law. Born on May 16, 1989, in Carrollton, Georgia, Corey's vibrant spirit and infectious enthusiasm for life left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Corey grew up in Carrollton and Villa Rica, where he forged many friendships that would stand the test of time. It was during his childhood that Corey's love for the imaginative world of collectibles and games began to flourish-a passion that would later become the cornerstone of his professional life.
After high school, Corey channeled his entrepreneurial spirit into the creation of The Hideout, a collectible store in Macon, Georgia. His establishment became a haven for enthusiasts of Pokemon cards, Video Games, and Anime, echoing Corey's own zest for these worlds. The Hideout was more than just a store; it was a community hub where Corey's generosity and expertise brought joy to many.
Corey's personal life was as rich and fulfilling as his professional endeavors. He shared a beautiful life with his spouse, Catherine Blackwell, of Smiths Station, Alabama. Together they shared a love for gaming, anime and cooking. He leaves behind a daughter, Aeris Wooton, who was the light of Corey's life.
Corey will be deeply missed by his mother, Lenia Pilkonis, who instilled in him the values of kindness. perseverance and a love of cooking. His step-father, JP Pilkonis, who was a steady figure in his life for the last 28 years. His siblings, Tru Pilkonis and Jakoby Pilkonis, step sister, Justina Pilkonis-Regnet, and sisters-in-law, Kimberly, and Savannah, will hold dear the memories of his playful wit, wicked sense of humor and unwavering support. Corey's in-laws, Mikki and Gennifer Anderson, and numerous extended family members also feel the profound loss of his passing.
Corey was preceded in death by his grandparents, Larry T. Hilley and Margarette M. Hilley, who were a guiding force in his life. Their legacy of love and family unity continues through Corey's enduring influence.
An avid gamer, Corey found solace and excitement in the world of video games. He was also a gifted 3D printing enthusiast, often creating intricate models that reflected his attention to detail and creativity. An avid proponent of proper pit bull/Cane Corso training, he was a long time proud owner of EZ, Coogie and Hennessey. Coogie and Hennessey lived long lives and will continue to be with Corey in his final resting place. All three were a constant by his side, offering comfort and friendship through every chapter of Corey's life.
Corey's life was a testament to the joy that can be found in pursuing one's passions and sharing them with others. His warm presence and the happiness he brought to those around him will be deeply missed.
