Corey Allen Griss

Corey A. Griss (CODE3COREY), passed away on Saturday, November 26th, 2022, at the age of 53.
Corey was born on April 1st, 1969 to Eugene and Dolores Griss, in Maumee, Ohio. He was a graduate of Springfield High School's class of 88'.
Before graduating he joined the fire department, and went on serving for 27 years between Springfield and Monclova Township. Most remember him from the Quarry days, diving and swimming all summer.
He met his wife Julie in high school, they were married 27 years. Corey and Julie went on to have two beautiful children Shelby and Cody.
He was a light in all rooms he walked into, smart comments and quick comebacks, making everyone laugh. Corey was a prankster, and no one could ever get him back! The Pittsburgh Steelers were his favorite football team, Let's GO Steelers!
His kids were his world. He loved being outdoors... camping, country music and moonshine. Summer time was spent at the ball fields, coaching. Corey and Julie loved riding motorcycles with friends.
Lawn care and snow plowing were his passion. He owned C & D for 34 years, he couldn't wait for the first snow fall every year. Corey's all-time favorite activity was hanging out with his grandson Vincent, his little sidekick, who gave him the title of Bapa.
Corey was preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Dolores Griss, his siblings Larry Griss, Sheila Morse, and Rama Kay Garrett. He is survived by his wife Julie and children Shelby (Jacob) Guerrero, Cody Griss, grandson Vincent and siblings, Kimberly Neitzke, Dawn (Mark) Douglas, Ranee (Larry) Bennett, Marsha (Chuck) Smith, Leslie Johnson, Kendra Anderson, Kevin (Jackie) Griss, along with multiple nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S Reynolds Rd. on Thursday, December 1st from 3:00- 8:00 p.m. with a Last Alarm and Scripture Service at 7:00. The funeral will begin at Coyle on Friday, December 2 at 9:30 a.m. followed by Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church, in Maumee. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Those wishing to donate in Corey's memory may give to the family for funeral expenses.
