Corey Alan Smith was born to parents, William Mayberry and Claudia Smith on January 18,1970.
Corey was raised by his stepfather, Thomas Nelson and his mother, Claudia Nelson and was a lifetime resident of Kansas City MO. He is preceded in death by his father, stepfather and one daughter, Ashley Durham.
Corey was a Super Fan of the Kansas City Chiefs win or lose. He enjoyed watching and attending the games. You couldn't find a bigger Chiefs fan than Corey. He proudly wore all of the Chief gear he could get.
He was educated in the Kansas City Missouri public school district and graduated from Southeast High School. Corey has five children, three sons and two daughters from previous relationships. Corey passed away on February 5, 2025, at the age of 55 at home.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Anjulette Smith of the home; his mother, Claudia Nelson; brothers, Micheal Smith, Louis (Tom) Nelson, Paul Nelson; sons, Ashton Durham (Elizabeth), Deandre Terrell (Candi), Corey Smith Jr., daughter, Corae Smith; eight grandchildren, mother-in-law, Lucinda Jacobs (Lee), father-in-law, Michael Thomas; special uncles, Paul Smith and Frank Smith; honorary brothers, Freddie Hill and Eric Bryce,and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday February 22, 2025, 11:00am at Watkins Heritage Chapel. Interment: Brooking Cemetery. Visitation from 10am-11am at the chapel. Services conducted by Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel. Condolences may be shared on our website.
