Corinda King Gill, age 85, passed away at Doylestown Hospital on April 7, 2025 surrounded by family.
She was born on August 25, 1939 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Ashton Byers and Dorothy Lewis (née Hirst). She attended Germantown Friends School followed by Pierce College and later Beaver College. She worked as a secretary for Sunoco Oil before having a family.
Corinda was a 40-year resident of Bower Court in Stone Harbor and was considered by many residents to be the “Mayor of the Court”. She was an avid gardener and could be found outside every day, tending to her prized tomatoes, hydrangeas, cucumbers, basil, and other herbs. She was often hiding in the “Back 40” watering the cherry tomatoes. Her favorite place was sitting on her outside porch, which she referred to as her “Island”. You could find her there most summer afternoons, reading, tending her flowers, and enjoying her “juice”. She was also a past member of the Garden Club of Stone Harbor.
In addition to loving Stone Harbor, Corinda as a huge Philadelphia Eagles fan and could get quite vocal when watching a game to the point where her neighbors could hear her cheering, or yelling, thru the walls and down the street. She was thrilled to watch her "Iggles" win the Super Bowl this year. Go Birds!
She is survived by her son, Roger (Mary) Bassett; daughter, Susan (James) Palmiter; three grandchildren, Eric Raymond (Maura) Bassett, Dean Byers (Kayla) Palmiter, and Margot Hipson Palmiter (Angus Johnston); one great-grandchild, Wesley James Johnston; a sister, Deborah Piotrowski; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, the late John J. Gill.
