Mrs. Corine Pace Wells, born on January 7, 1938, in Hyden, KY., to the union of Walter Pace and Pauline Brashear Pace, passed away peacefully at her residence in Hyden on October 8, 2024 at the age of 86, surrounded by her beloved family. A cherished member of her community, Corine lived a life filled with joy, laughter, and a deep love to those around her.  From her early years in Hyden, Corine exhibited a warm spirit and a nurturing heart, qualities that would define her throughout her life. She was known for her kindness and her unwavering support for family and friends, always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. Her legacy is one of compassion and strength, a reflection of her character that touched the lives of many. Her family will always cherish the memories they created together, including the many holiday celebrations and family gatherings.  She worked as a cashier at Sizemore's Market for many years and was also employed by the Leslie County school system as a cook. Corine was a member of the Wooton Presbyterian Church.  She enjoyed traveling, quilting, working jigsaw puzzles, gardening, watching sports and spending time with her family.  Corine also greatly enjoyed spending time and talking with her friends from the Leslie County High School class of 1957.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Pace & Pauline Brashear Pace; beloved husband, Charles Wells; infant son; sister, Dorothy Gail Dixon and son-in-law, Oscar "Bimbo" Fields.

She leaves the following relatives surviving:  sons, Charles Gregory Wells & Audrey of Hyden, KY., Tim Wells & Karen of Hyden, KY. and Bill Wells & Rhonda of Somerset, KY.; daughters, Elizabeth "Bib" Lewis & Johnny of London, KY., Charlene Fields of Hyden, KY. and Scytha Whitaker & Scott of Hyden, KY.; brother, Harold Pace & Ruth of Georgia; 12 grandchildren, Erin Chamberlin & Tommy, Brice Fields & Victoria, Tyler Wells & Brooke, Gavin Wells & Paige, Beth Lewis & Ben, Trevor Wells & Kaitie, Becky Young & B.J., Kayla Sabo & Cory, Evan Whitaker & Natalie, Connor Whitaker & Jada, Allison Wells and Alex Wells; 10 great-grandchildren and other treasured relatives and friends also survive.

As we remember Corine, we honor the love she shared so generously and the positive impact she had on the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her. She leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, empathy, and resilience. Her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of her family and friends.

Corine Pace Wells will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.


Visitation: Thursday, October 10, 2024 at 5:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home Chapel with an additional visitation beginning at 11:00AM Friday leading up to the funeral hour

Funeral: Friday, October 11, 2024 at 1:00 P.M. at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home, Hyden, KY

Ministers: Merle Caudill & Rev. Billy Joe Lewis

Interment: Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Southeast - Hyden, KY.

Pallbearers:  Brice Fields, Tyler Wells, Trevor Wells, Gavin Wells, Evan Whitaker, Connor Whitaker, Alex Wells & Kash Wells

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Wooton Presbyterian Church and/or Bluegrass Care Navigators
