In loving memory of Lois Corinne Bright Johnson
December 1, 1946 – June 27, 2025
Lois Corinne Bright Johnson ("CBJ") leaves an indelible legacy of love, hope, optimism, perseverance, resilience, warmth, and true beauty. Her smile and positivity were radiant- she touched so many lives with her vibrant spirit, quick wit, and unwavering zest for life. Even on her toughest days, she found joy, spoke of happiness, smiled beautifully, and always shared her adorable charm and gratitude with the world.
She passed peacefully into the heavens on June 27 at 78 years old, surrounded by her loving and devoted daughter, close family friends, and her dedicated care team in
San Diego, California.
Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Lois was the beloved daughter of Lillian and Bert Bright, and the youngest of two elder brothers, Bill and Bob Bright. A proud Chicagoan, she adored her parents and brothers and took great pride in her city roots. She graduated from Carl Schurz High School and earned her Bachelor's degree in English from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She was a passionate follower of Big Ten football-especially her daughter's alma mater, The University of Michigan Wolverines-and always enjoyed keeping up with the games.
A kindred spirit, she embraced life to the fullest; she loved theater, music, travel, fashion, interior decorating, and cooking-always finding a way to make every day and every moment feel special and positive. Her long and successful career as a paralegal brought her great pride. She was a devoted wife and a beloved aunt to her nieces and nephew.
Her greatest joy, and proudest role, was being a mother. The birth of her daughter, Erika, was her life's most meaningful moment. CBJ was truly born to be a mother-raising Erika was her passion and purpose, and their deeply cherished, special bond will endure forever.
Lois lived in San Diego twice-first as a young woman before marrying and starting a family, and then again eight years ago, returning to sunny skies and the ocean breeze to be near her daughter. Together, they loved coastal drives, movie nights, dining out, backyard chats, and reminiscing. She adored birds and had multiple parakeets over the years-all named Salvator-who she lovingly taught to talk. She had a gift for making any place feel like home and everyone feel welcomed and loved.
CBJ is held in the hearts of her loving daughter, her greatest supporter, and friend, Erika; her brother, Bill; her sisters-in-law, Susan and Mary Kay; her lifelong best friends, Rene and Marv; and other extended family members and cherished friends who love her dearly.
Memorial and burial services will be held at St. Adalbert Catholic Cemetery in Niles, Illinois on Friday, August 1, 2025 at 2pm. In celebration of her radiant spirit, those attending (or honoring her from afar) are invited to wear yellow-her favorite color-or other light, bright shades that reflect her joyful essence. There will also be an opportunity during the service for anyone who wishes to share a memory or story.
CBJ, you will live on forever in our hearts and minds. You are loved beyond words!
