Corky Howell

Kenneth Robert "Corky" Howell, age 73 of Lackey Rd. passed away Friday, February 9, 2018 at Carolinas Healthcare System – Lincoln. He was born November 24, 1944 in Lincoln County to the late James Edward "Pete" and Ruth Ford Howell. Corky was retired from Carolina Freight. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved to watch racing and was an avid Richard Petty fan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Bentley Robert Howell. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Judy Craig Howell; son, Wes Howell and wife, Jennifer; grandchildren, Morgan and Shelby Howell; daughter-in-law, Melinda Howell; brother, Jim Howell and wife, Janice; mother-in-law, Christine Craig; sister-in-law, Loretta and Jay Costner; brother-in-law, Arnold and Hilda Craig; and nieces and nephews, Heather and Joel Porter, Shana and Danny Lewis, Brad and Jessica Towery, Beth and Billy Sisk, and Wayne and Marie Craig. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 12, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral & Cremation Services with Ray Leonhardt officiating. Burial will follow at Hulls Grove Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Monday from 12:30 to 1:45 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
