Corlis Gail Chapman, 74, of Chapin, SC, and formerly of Festus, MO, died in her home, peacefully, quickly, and pain-free, surrounded by her family, on Sunday, February 22, 2026. Just like she wanted.
Born on November 18, 1951, in St. Louis, MO, she was raised by her beloved Aunt Viola and Uncle Howard Clark, of Festus, MO. She graduated from Festus High School in 1969 and attended Jefferson Community College in Jefferson, MO.
She enjoyed simple pleasures in life. Corlis loved to watch movies, especially Snow White, Lady and the Tramp, and Grease. She loved all animals, but everyone who knew Corlis knew that horses always held a special place in her heart. Getting her hair done was a special treat for her, and she always looked forward to going to the salon with her sisters.
Corlis was pure-hearted, sweet, and kind. She will be missed by all who knew her and most especially by her family.
She is survived by her sisters, Barbara J. Chapman and Patricia A. Digby (Sean); nephews, Jason Digby and Christopher Digby (Layla); five great- nieces and nephews; and three great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her beloved Aunt Viola and Uncle Howard Clark.
Private family services will be conducted at a later time.
The family suggests memorials be made to Lexington County Animal Services, 321 Ballpark Rd., Lexington, SC 29072; or to a local animal shelter of your choosing.
