Cornelia Beaumont Gohr Botto

Cornelia Beaumont “Beau” Gohr Botto, 85, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Akron, Ohio, on February 8, 1940, Beau was the daughter of Cornelia “Connie” Beaumont Hirsch Gohr and William Davis Gohr. She was an alumna of Old Trail School and Bradford Junior College and earned her Bachelor of Arts in English from Kent State University.

Beau met the love of her life, Don, at a gathering at her parents’ home on Palisades Drive. The two shared 63 wonderful years of marriage, building a life full of love, family, and devoted service to others.

A passionate community volunteer, Beau dedicated countless hours to civic service. She was a Girl Scout troop leader for many years and a longtime member of the Akron Junior League, where she notably served as editor of The LoudSpeaker. She also gave decades of service to the Women’s Board of Akron General Medical Center, serving as President from 1983 to 1985. At Akron General, she volunteered weekly in the Emergency Room, contributed to hospital ethics committees, and supported numerous hospital initiatives over the decades.

Beau will be remembered as a talented gardener, a champion tennis player, and a kind, generous spirit who gave freely of her time and energy. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a proud “Amma” to her grandchildren. She cherished holidays, delighted in watching the backyard birds, and kept a keen interest in the fashion choices of her grandchildren. Her joy in making cookies with them—and treating them to gourmet gummy bears from West Point Market—reflected her warmth and devotion.

Beau was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Donald Botto; her parents, Connie and William Gohr; and her brother, William Davis Gohr III.

She is survived by her daughters, Cornelia “Cobe” (Tim) Crumley and Laura Comstock (Dave Selders); and her grandchildren, Cornelia “Lia” Crumley, Cooper Comstock (Summer Tompkins), Katherine Comstock (Brad Marcotte), and Callie Comstock (Jacob Hamilton). She will be deeply missed by her family, her many friends in the Friendly Village, and all who shared laughter and memories around their table by the pool.

A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 A.M. FRIDAY August 1st at St. Paul’s Episcopal Chapel, 1361 West Market Street, Akron, OH 44313. Private inurnment to follow in the Church’s Memorial Garden. Guests are cordially invited to a reception which will be held in the parlor after the inurnment. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Women’s Board of Akron General Medical Center, 1 Akron General Ave. Akron, OH 44307, or to One of A Kind Pet Rescue, 1929 W. Market St. Akron, OH 44313.
