Amelia Botto Obituary

Amelia graduated from Eastchester High School in 1956 and went on to earn a Master's Degree in Math Education from Hunter College and Columbia University. Amy taught in the Rye, NY School District until 1964 when she joined the Mahopac Central School District until her retirement in 1999.
In 1999 she relocated from Mahopac to Somers where she stayed active as a member of the Somers Women's Club and a parishioner of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church.
On December 29, 1963 she married Anthony J. Botto at Immaculate Conception Church in Tuckahoe, NY. Sadly, Anthony passed away on August 22, 2010. She is survived by her daughters, Noelle Martin and her husband, Gary of Wildwood Crest, NJ, Andrea Joyce and her domestic partner, Charles Acquisto of Wallkill, NY and Maria Kurshan and her husband, Burt of Hopewell Junction, NY; her brother, James Caccavale; her sisters, Connie Gironda and RoseMarie Jordan and her four beloved grandchildren, Andrew (Sadie) and Matthew Joyce and Anthony and Tyler Kurshan.
Visiting will be held on Sunday, November 2 from 12 Noon until 4 pm at Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 3 at 10 am at St. Joseph's Church, 95 Plum Brook Road, Somers, with entombment to follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Putnam Valley, NY.

Our deepest sympathy to the Amelia Botto family. Keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers. So sad to hear of her passing. We have know her for over 60 years. She was my brother Peter and Sister -In - Love Amelia (Botto) Cocciardi 's Sister- In Love. May the Lord grant you all peace and comfort as only He can.
