Cornelius “Casey” Feikema, Jr. was born on April 28, 1947 to Cornelius “Case” Sr. and Martha (Van Tol) Feikema in the Canton/Inwood Hospital rural Canton, South Dakota. Casey grew up on a farm near Fairview, South Dakota. He attended Inwood Christian School in Inwood, Iowa and was a freshman at Western Christian High School in Hull, Iowa when the family relocated to rural Luverne, Minnesota for a short time before settling by Edgerton, Minnesota. Casey continued his education at Southwest Christian High School in Edgerton and graduated in 1965. Casey spent that summer working at Hanson Silo. He was then hired on with Oscar Van Essen Construction in Edgerton where he would remain employed for the next 11 years. During this time, Casey enlisted in the National Guard. On May 21, 1970, Casey was united in marriage to Rosann Pap at the American Reformed Church in Luverne. In 1976, Casey became self-employed by starting his own business, Feikema Construction, which he would operate until 2005. The first house he built was for Clarence and Ann Feikema in rural Luverne. From 2005 until 2017, Casey and Rose managed apartments in Luverne. In addition to these jobs, Casey was also a farmer later in life and considered it a hobby more than work. He even planted crops in the Spring of 2024 and helped with the harvest this past Fall. On January 5, 2025, Casey passed away peacefully at the Luverne Hospice Cottage in Luverne at the age of 77 years, 8 months, and 8 days.
Casey was a member of the Christian Reformed Church in Luverne. He served as elder, deacon, taught catechism and Sunday school, operated the sound system, and cleared the church parking lot of snow for 40 years. He especially enjoyed being a Cadet Counselor which he did from 1984-2020. Casey served as the general contractor for the church addition which was built between 1979-1980.
Casey is survived by his wife of 54 years, Rosann Feikema of Luverne; three sons, Corlin (Sharon) Feikema of Sioux Center, Iowa, Theron Feikema of Luverne, and Derick Feikema of Luverne; seven grandchildren, Erica (Jonathan) Veldman, Elaina (Blake) Cannegieter, Kaitlyn Ammons, Cody Feikema, Marissa Feikema, Hailey Ammons, and Grant Feikema; one great-grandchild, Caroline Veldman; and siblings, Betty Bolkema of Hull, Iowa, Karolyn Van Engen of Sioux Center, Iowa, Ann Feikema of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Arlene (Art) Stellenga of Rock Valley, Iowa, and Lori (Ron) Bruxvoort of Erie, Colorado; two sisters-in-law, Jean Pap and Marge Pap, both of Luverne; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cornelius and Martha Feikema, Sr.; sister, Marge Van Surksum; daughter-in-law, Rachael (Visser) Feikema; brothers-in-law, John Bolkema, Arn Van Engen, Ken Kelderman, William Van Surksum, Donald Pap, Wilmer Pap; parents-in-law, Gerrit and Josephine (DeJong) Pap; and step-mother-in-law, Johanna (Top nee Oldenkamp) Pap.
Memorials may be directed to a Christian School of the donor's choice in Casey's memory.
