Cornelius Henry Corry

Mr. Cornelius Henry Corry, age 78, of LaGrange, passed away on October 31, 2025. Mr. Corry was born on December 4, 1946, in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Ferdinand Corry and Rose Ash Corry. He was an educator for most of his career, serving the Longwood Central School District before retirement.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Henigin; daughter, Kimberly Henigin Corry (Steven Ramsey); brother, Fred Corry; extended family and friends. Along with his parents, Fred and Rose, he was predeceased by three brothers: Patrick Corry, John Corry, and Steven Corry.
Neil graduated from St. John's University in Queens, NY, where he played football and rowed on the crew team. He met Barbara, his loving wife of 43 years, while they were both assigned lunch duty as teachers at Longwood Junior High School. While at Longwood, Neil taught global studies, coached football, and joined his students in founding the organization Students Together Against Racism (S.T.A.R.), which was recognized with the Community Service Achievement Award by the State of New York.
In 1976, shortly after beginning his teaching career, Neil purchased a 100-year-old log cabin on Morrill Pond, in the woods of central Maine. He lived his next 49 summers there among his family, friends, and many beloved dogs.
Neil and Barbara moved to LaGrange in 2008, where they were lucky to find a loving community of friends among their new neighbors and local Rotarians.
All who knew Neil have heard at least a few of his many colorful stories about life growing up in Brooklyn, freewheeling across the country with his brothers, or fending off porcupines in the woods with his dogs. Neil will be dearly missed and remembered, above all, for his boundless capacity for kindness, generosity, and love.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at 2:00 pm at the Higgins Funeral Home at Hunter-Allen-Myhand Chapel with Father Timothy A. Gadziala, JCL, V.F., officiating. Family will receive friends on Thursday at the funeral home from 1:00–2:00 pm.
