Cornelius J.  Doherty of Holbrook, formerly of Quincy, died August 27, 2025. Beloved husband of the late Margaret (Costello) Doherty. Loving father of Cornelius J. Doherty, Jr. of Tacoma , WA and Joseph Doherty and his wife Michelle of Holbrook. Brother of Seamus Doherty of Worcester, Timothy Doherty of County Kerry, Ireland, and the late Mary O'Malley, Christie, Michael, Dermott and John J. Doherty. Cherished grandfather of Michael and Amanda Doherty, Mary Hamilton, Angela and Sandy Doherty. Great grandfather of Micah, Lucah and Thomas. Cornelius is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Cornelius was born and raised in Ireland and came over the the US in the mid 1950's. He lived in Worcester and Somerville before moving to Quincy. He met the love of his life Margaret Costello at an Irish dance, they married and raised their family in Quincy. Cornelius worked as a meat cutter for Shaws for many years. He enjoyed volunteering at food pantries in Holbrook and Quincy. A devout Catholic, he served as a Eucharistic minister at St. Ann's Church. He enjoyed cooking, gardening but he was at his happiest when helping other people. He enjoyed spending his summers at his cottage in Lakeville, where he enjoyed his paddle boat. The foundation of his life was his family. They were all that was truly important to him. He cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren, especially building things with Mikey. He will live on in all the memories they created together.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Friday August 29, 2025 from 4-7PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:45 AM on Saturday August 30th prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10:30 AM. Burial will be private.
