Corrine Anita Lewis, 77, beloved mother, sister and aunt, died Monday, October 13, at her home on the Fallon Paiute-Shoshone Tribe Indian Reservation and Colony, Fallon, Nevada. She had been in declining health.

She was born January 22, 1948, in Portland, Oregon. Her parents were Frank Lewis and Evelyn Works. Both are deceased. At the time of Evelyn’s death, she was the Paiute-Shoshone tribe’s oldest living member.

A celebration of Corrine’s life will be held on Thursday, October 23 at 1 p.m. at the Garden Funeral Home, Cemetery and Crematory, 2949 Austin Highway, Fallon, Nevada. Family and friends are invited to attend.

Corrine is survived by her son, Isiah Christy of Fallon, Nevada; three sisters, her baby sister Sherry Lewis of Fresno; Teresa Montgomery of Fallon; and Carm Rodriguez of Sun Valley, Nevada; three brothers, Pepper Heredia of Fresno; Gerard Works of Fallon; and Adrian Works of Lemoore, California; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Two brothers, Conrad Lewis and Raul Lewis preceded her in death.

Corrine lived on the Table Mountain Rancheria near Friant, California before moving to the Fallon reservation. She was a member of the Paiute-Shoshone tribe. She was Northern Paiute on her mother’s side and Chukchansi, a California Indian tribe, on her father’s side. She took great pride in her Native American heritage.

Officially, she belonged to the Greater New Refuge Church of God in Christ for 15 years. The church is in Fallon.

She enjoyed collecting Native American and other memorabilia and loved animals, including, when she was a young girl, a pet rat she named Mr. Peabody.

She traveled extensively as part of her ministry, preaching at many different churches and venues. Her journeys, as a minister, included traveling to Peru, Brazil and Israel.

Several years ago, she appeared in YouTube videos as Missionary Evangelist Corrine Lewis. Watching them, viewers get a sense of the energy and enthusiasm she poured into her sermons. In life, she was robust and energetic and generous and took great pride in her appearance.

Her videos can still be seen on YouTube. In the videos, she shares some aspects of her life. In one video she describes how she came to discover her religious vocation, her spiritual calling. She also had her own website, www.CorrineLewis.com.

No doubt her influence as a minister, as a sister, mother and aunt will be felt for a long time on the many lives she touched.
