Cortney Marie (Schields) Clark, 38, of Courtland, Kansas, peacefully passed away on May 5th, 2024, surrounded by her family after a courageous, two-year battle with breast cancer.
Born on July 31, 1985, in Goodland, KS, Cortney was the beloved daughter of Brad and Dana Schields. She was a proud graduate of Goodland High School, Class of 2004. Cortney furthered her education at Kansas State University and went on to work as a registered dietician for many years sharing her passion for health and nutrition.
On August 25, 2012, Cortney happily married Wes Clark and together they established their home as the fourth generation to live on the Clark family farm in Courtland, Kansas. They were blessed with three beautiful children, Jaxi (10), Kaydan (8), and Lainey (4) who were the joy of Cortney's life. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and entertaining on their beautiful farmstead.
The Courtland community quickly became the home she loved and she found ways to give back by volunteering to lead crafts at her church's Wednesday school and planting flowers downtown for Courtland Pride. Cortney's love knew no bounds, as evidenced by the unwavering closeness she shared with her family and the lifelong friendships she made wherever she went. Throughout her journey, her steadfast faith continued to strengthen no matter the challenge ahead, which serves as an enduring inspiration to all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Cortney is survived by her devoted husband, Wes, and their beloved children, Jaxi, Kaydan, and Lainey. She also leaves behind her loving parents, Brad and Dana Schields, her sisters, and best friends, Brittany Schields, Lindsay (Ryder) Kling of Goodland, and Whitney (Dylan) Bainter of Hoxie, her grandmother-in-law Beverly Sothers, father-in-law Jack Clark, brothers-in-law Thayne (Lacey) Clark, Tyler (Kirby) Clark of Courtland, and sister-in-law Kayce (Blake) Mayer of Council Grove, KS, along with many cherished nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Kaylene Clark, grandparents Don and Freda Deeds, and Fred and Darlene Schields, and grandparents-in-law Ray and Donna Clark, and Ralph Sothers.
A funeral service to celebrate Cortney's life will be held on Saturday, May 11th, 10:30 am at the Courtland United Methodist Church, followed by burial at the Rosemound Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Friday, May 10th, from 4:00-8:00 pm at the Courtland United Methodist Church and the family will be present to greet from 4:00-6:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made in care of the family and may be left at the services or mailed to Price Funeral Homes, P.O. Box 282, Superior, NE 68978.
In her brief time on this earth, Cortney made an impact on all who knew her. She will always be known for her unwavering strength, self-less kindness, and unforgettable humor. While she will be deeply missed, her spirit will live on through her beautiful children and the memories she created with all who loved her.
