Craig Alan Barker was born March 30, 1966, in McKinney, Texas, to A.L. and Charlotte (Wynn) Barker. He attended Weaver Consolidated #13, Plano, Texas, and La Grange, Texas, before transferring to Frederick High School, where he graduated with the Class of 1984. He later attended Oklahoma State University, in Stillwater, where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1992, in Fire Protection Technology. Craig owned and operated Barker Plumbing and held licenses as a Master Plumber in the states of Oklahoma and Texas.
Craig was a True Friend! He moved back to Tillman County in 2006, to the Victory / Valley Cash Store community, where he enjoyed his neighbors and the area farmers. He enjoyed playing golf, quail hunting with his dog Sue, shuffleboard, horseshoes, snow skiing, going to the river, fishing, playing the piano, dominoes, and cooking. He dreamed of being a pilot and had passed his written exam, as well as made his solo flight. All who knew him, knew he was very competitive and passionate in all he did.
Craig loved being Claire's Dad. He looked forward to her visits in the summer and taking her for her first ski trip to Wolf Creek Pass in Colorado, with the family. It was a highlight for Craig when he taught Claire to drive on the back roads, and it was also special when they planned and cooked suppers together.
He is survived by his mother, Charlotte Barker of McAlester, Oklahoma; his daughter, Claire Barker and her husband Matt Simmons of Westminster, Colorado; one brother, Art Barker and his wife Lisa of Anadarko, Oklahoma; one sister, Melitta Simmons and her husband Dallas of New Hope, Arkansas; one brother-in-law, Gary Strickland of Altus, Oklahoma; his nieces and nephews, Lee Michael Barker and his wife Kyli of Anadarko, Oklahoma, Justin Strickland of Altus, Oklahoma, Brian Strickland and his wife Julie of Altus, Oklahoma; Rebecca Ruiz and her husband Rick of Altus, Oklahoma, and Amanda Browning and her husband Colby of Mena, Arkansas; his great-nieces and nephews, Mason and Khloe Barker, Kylee Martinez and her husband Juan, Kale and Caleb Strickland, and Brooklynn and Emma Strickland-Ruiz; his great-great-niece, Nyla Martinez; friends who became family, Kay and Dana Atkins of Davidson, Oklahoma; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and many friends.
