Craig Deardorff, 83, of South Bend, peacefully passed into rest on Saturday, March 29, 2025. He was born April 28, 1941, in South Bend to the late Carl Deardorff and Gertrude (Selge) Hoffman, and later married Judy Reeves on March 14, 1970, celebrating 55 years of marriage.

Judy survives along with their children, Scott Deardorff and Denise (Rob) Dresbach, both of South Bend, along with 5 grandchildren, Brianna Deardorff, Brian and Justin Dresbach, and Brandon and Wyatt Cassity. All of Craig’s siblings also survive, Jim Deardorff, Martha (Dennis) Delio, Charles (Mary Jo) Nickel, and Robert (Kelley) Nickel, along with a brother-in-law Dan Michael Reeves. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gertrude (Gene) Hoffman and Carl (Norma) Deardorff.

Craig, a graduate of Central Senior High School's Class of 1959, enlisted in the Army Reserves, where he served honorably for six years. Following his service, he built a 30-year career at Bendix as a crane operator and general laborer before retiring. Outside of work, Craig had a passion for classic cars and could often be found at car shows and drag racing events. He took great pride in his ’69 Ford Mustang and ’72 Grand Torino. A devoted Chicago Bears fan, he also enjoyed hunting morel mushrooms with his family. Above all, Craig had a deep love for dogs, especially his beloved dachshund, Rusty, who sadly passed away just before Craig.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place with a private Celebration of Life to be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Center for Hospice.
