Craig James Engen, 47 of Duluth, died with his family by his side on Monday, November 28, 2022, in the Solvay Hospice House.
He was born on January 14, 1975, to Jim and Nancy (Gustafson) Engen in Duluth, MN.
Craig graduated from Denfeld High School in 1993 and enlisted in the US Army serving from 1993-96, where he specialized as a diesel mechanic. Craig returned from the army and was employed at USG in Cloquet and then he worked in St. Cloud, MN in the manufacturing industry.
He had a special love for animals and was passionate about cooking, food was his love language. Craig enjoyed spending time fishing and hunting with family and friends. He prided himself as camp cook for many years. Craig will be remembered for his big heart and his belly laugh.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his father, Jim, and numerous other relatives.
Survivors include his mother, Nancy (Don) Omundson; his brother, Scott (Lorie) Engen; his nephew, Cole Engen and niece, Anabelle Engen; his aunts, Joyce (Kerry) Louks, Lin (Dan Bester) Robinson, Audery (Mark) Senarighi, and Arlene Engen; uncles, Don (Tammi) Gustafson, John (Cheryl) Engen and Jeff (Sue) Engen and numerous other family members.
Our special thanks to the Essentia Health Hospice team, especially Brandy. Additionally, a very special thank you to the Solvay Hospice House staff, especially Craig P. a volunteer at Solvay for his special friendship.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm until the 1:00 pm funeral service on Friday, December 9, 2022, in Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N 19th St., Superior. Military honors by the Richard I Bong American Legion Post #435 Combined Honor Guard. Burial will be in the Minnesota State Cemetery, Duluth. Arrangements are with Downs Funeral Home.

There is not enough space to write about childhood experiences and growing up with Craig Engen He was/is an a amazing guy who blessed myself/family with a lot of love and attitude until he had to pull weeds at my grandma Bgarden across the street for years from the Engens He always made sure my grandmother was alright/And Scotty his brother but it explains what kind of person he wasBetween Merritt Park and growing up Craig "You will be missed and dearly and you can bet Kyles waiting for you to build something fantastic my friend
