Ronald Eric Johnson, 61, of Bennett, WI was welcomed into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, unexpectedly but peacefully, on Thursday, September 25th, 2025, after a lengthy battle with respiratory disease.
Ron was born in
Superior, WI on March 23rd, 1964, the son of Wayne and Ruth (Hart) Johnson. He graduated from Northwestern High School in Maple, WI with the Class of 1982.
Ron had worked for many years as a Heavy Equipment Operator for the Operating Engineers Local 49. He also worked as a bartender at Colalillo's Covered Wagon in Hawthorne, WI, where he made many friends that he cherished dearly. Ron had a wonderful sense of humor and was quick witted with one-liners. He had the biggest heart and was always willing to help anyone in need.
Ron was passionate about "Ralph", Dale Earnhardt Sr. and his #3 Chevrolet, until his untimely passing on the last lap of the Daytona 500 on February 18th, 2001. Ron loved his Fantasy Football and was an avid football enthusiast cheering for the Raiders and the Packers.
Ron was also very creative and artistic. He enjoyed drawing, woodworking, whittling, creating unique screen graphics, golfing and fishing with his brother Dennis and "His boys" Corbin, Mayson, & Shayne. He was a lover and a collector of superhero comic books from a young age through his adulthood.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Dale E. Johnson.
Ron is survived by his siblings, Warren (Tammy) Johnson of Stoughton, WI, Lola Johnson of Derby, CT, Dennis (Wendie) Johnson of Solon Springs, WI and Eric (Jill) Johnson of Adrian, MI, Nieces and Nephews, Heather (Christopher) Stickler, Burlington, WI, Jennifer Johnson of Wauwatosa, WI, Christopher (Katie) Johnson of Mukwonago, WI, Shannon Fugett of Fox Lake, IL, Karac (Angela) Johnson of Wauseon, OH, Scarllette (Jacob) Gombash of Delta, OH, with many great nieces, nephews, cousins, and "His boys" Corbin (Ceaira) McGinnis and family of Oakland Township, Mayson McGinnis of Bennett, and Shayne McGinnis of St. Paul; and his trusty canine companion, Buddy.
As Ron's health deteriorated, he needed additional assistance at home. A genuine, heartfelt thank you to Ceaira DeBeir and Amy Nelson for the care and compassion you showed Ron, he was truly grateful.
Ron had an unmeasurable love for his McGinnis Family. He felt truly blessed with the unconditional love and support you showered him over these past 12 years, he deeply loved you all.
Ron treasured his Covered Wagon Family. The close friendships he developed along with the love and support he was shown over the years, meant the world to him.
A sincere thank you to the Bennett First Responders, the Douglas County Sheriff's Dept., Medical Examiner Angela Dougherty, Jeff Cushman with Downs Life Celebration Center and Pastor Chad Cracraft of House of Hope Church for their assistance during a very difficult time.
As we navigate over the next days, weeks and months to come, our family, Ron's extended family, and his childhood, lifelong friends would like to thank everyone for the overwhelming outpouring of prayers, love, and support we have all received. It is absolutely wonderful to see that our beloved Ron was so deeply loved and that he will be sorely missed.
A graveside service will be held at Bennett Cemetery on Saturday, October 25th, 2025, at Noon with Pastor Chad Cracraft as officiant. Fellowship and a time of remembrance and refreshments to follow at the Bennett Town Hall.
