Craig Johnson

RINCON- Craig Johnson, 64, unexpectedly joined his Dad in Heaven on April 26, 2023. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, but moved to Springfield as a child and spent the rest of his life in Effingham.
Craig was an accomplished athlete while a student at Effingham Academy and graduated in 1977. He excelled in football, baseball, and basketball. Craig was always a sports fan, as well. A devoted Georgia Bulldogs enthusiast, he took his "Dawgs" very seriously. Craig enjoyed watching football and playing golf.
A long-time bachelor, Craig was a "cat dad" to his precious Sheba, and he loved animals. He was a quiet, uncomplicated man who preferred to stay home getting scratched by his cat, eat ice cream, and watch Law & Order or sports. He was proud to be a Christian and attended Crossroads Baptist Church in Guyton, GA.
Craig had a deadpan wit and a dry sense of humor. He was employed by NFI, Inc. in Rincon where he adeptly drove a forklift. He worked the night shift because he said less people would mess with him. He still used a flip phone, and the internet fascinated him, although he didn't know how to access it. Craig loved his family, had the kindest heart, and never spoke an ill word about anyone; therefore, he was loved by many.
Craig is preceded in death by his beloved father, Charles C. Johnson, and is survived by his sweet mama, Sally Johnson, of Rincon, GA; his brother, Dwayne Johnson (Judy) of Statesboro, GA; his sister Dawn Parrish (Ken) of Rincon, GA; his beloved nieces- Brandi Sanders (John) of Metter, GA; Heather Sikes of Brooklet, GA; Sarah Johnson Willi (Steven) of Stanley, WI., along with 3 great-nephews- Ryan, Payne, and Creed; and a special friend, Cara Livingston of Rincon, GA.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Carlson & Riggs Funeral Home with a celebration of life service to follow directly after in the chapel of the funeral home.
