Craig Curtis Palmer, 40, a proud veteran of the United States Army, passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at his home in Oklahoma City, OK.

Craig is the son of Cindy Craig Acree and the late Bobby Ray Palmer. He was born December 8, 1983, in Union City, TN. Craig grew up in Humboldt and graduated from Humboldt City Schools in 2002.

He loved sports, especially baseball, and excelled in the sport as a pitcher and first baseman. He acquired the nickname “Stretch” because of his long legs and arms. If the ball came anywhere close, “Stretch” snagged the ball.

He then joined the U. S. Army in February 2006 as a petroleum supply specialist stationed at Ft. Riley, Kansas; home of the 1st Infantry Division known as the Big Red 1. Craig achieved the rank of Sergeant and after more than eleven years of service he retired December 30, 2016, with an honorable discharge. During his tenure he deployed multiple times to Iraq, South Korea, and Kuwait.

Craig was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Ray Palmer and his step-father, Ron Acree.

He is survived by his mother, Cindy Acree; son, James Dalton Palmer; brother, Cole Palmer and wife Maris; nieces, Isabelle and Mia Palmer; fiancée, Lexi Brown.

Funeral services for Craig will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, September 14, 2024, in the sanctuary of The Church at Sugar Creek with Dr. Greg McFadden officiating. Burial will follow in Antioch Cemetery with military honors. Visitation with the family will be held from 1 p.m. until service time the church.

Those honoring him as pallbearers will be: Leo McCormick, Lance Alexander, Gerry Brittain, Barry Brittain, Rocco Fragale, Rick Fisher.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Warriors Heart, 756 Purple Sage Rd, Bandera, TX 78003.
