Rev. Craig Timothy Swan passed away on Palm Sunday, March 29, 2026. He was born on October 24, 1956, son of the late Dale Swan and Mrs. Kay Wheelock, in Greenville, MI. He graduated from Montcalm High School and Ferris State University. He studied Criminal Justice at Ferris. Upon his college graduation, he got a job as a police officer and was stationed at Mesick Police Department.
After a year, he lost both of his kidneys. He went on dialysis treatments at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI where he received two kidney transplants. After he lost both of his kidneys, the Lord called him to be a minister. His home church, Nevins Lake Church, pastor recommended to go to GRSBM, now a part of Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, MI. He met his wife from Korea, Sunflower Swan, at the Bible college and they married in June of 1985. He served at Calvary Baptist Church in Grand Rapids, MI as a full-time pastoral intern for a year and became a youth pastor at Byron Center Bible Church where he was ordained as the Minister of the Gospel of Christ.
The Lord gave Craig Timothy the desire to pursue education at Dallas Theological Seminary. He earned a master's degree at DTS and was called to ministry at Grace Chapel, Havertown, PA. He and his wife had a very fruitful and effective ministry. However, God called Tim for church planting in Aurora, Colorado. He pastored the Cherry Bible Church for many years. His general health declined so he resigned from the church and moved back to Michigan.
The Lord opened a different kind of ministry in Michigan. He preached in various churches and taught Sunday Bible class, family life, and a small group for almost a quarter century. During that time, he wrote a Bible study book on Jonah "Gaining God's Heart" by Tim Swan which is available on Amazon. He loved to study and teach God's Word. He had hemodialysis for 32 consecutive years; twenty of those, he was a home hemodialysis patient. He had many health challenges in his life which the Lord used to advance the gospel. He is a long-time member of IFCA International (pastor's fellowship).
Tim is survived by his wife of nearly 41 years, MyungHee (Sunflower) Swan of Fruitport, MI; daughter, Rachel Mei (Josiah) Meiste of Hudsonville, MI; two lovely granddaughters, Isabelle and Arielle; his mom, Kay Wheelock; his older brothers, Mark (Linda) Swan, John (Sonya) Swan; older sister, Ranae (Jack) Bowles; and younger brother, Greg (Nancy) Swan; and a host of nephews, nieces, and friends. His cousin, Steve (Chisun) Swan, is his lifelong hiking buddy.
