Cris Blalock, age 68 of Amarillo went to be with his Lord on December 20, 2025.
The funeral will be on Monday, December 29, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Schooler Funeral Home, Brentwood Chapel, 4100 South Georgia. Pastor Mike Alexander of New Testament Christian Church of Amarillo will officiate. Interment will be at the Panhandle Cemetery in Panhandle, Texas.
Cris was born on October 10, 1957, in Amarillo, Texas, to his parents, Albert and Vidala Garcia Blalock. He attended Amarillo High School and throughout his life held several jobs, including positions at Maywood and A1 Driveline. For a time, Cris also owned his own business, and worked for Proffitt Services, and was a talented carpenter who took pride in working with his hands.
In his younger years, Cris enjoyed motorcycles, building model cars, and playing the electric guitar. He loved racing at the Amarillo Dirt Track and working on cars, often sharing that passion with his son, Erik—they even built go-karts together. As his health declined, Cris discovered new hobbies to keep himself engaged, most notably his love for fish. He found great joy in maintaining the many fish tanks throughout his home.
Cris was invited to attend New Testament Christian Church, where he quickly became deeply involved and embraced his newfound church family. Most importantly, Cris loved Jesus and cherished his faith.
Cris was happiest when surrounded by family—both his family by birth and his church family—but especially when spending time with his grandchildren, whom he truly adored.
He was preceded in death by his father, Albert in 2016.
Cris is survived by his son Erik Blalock and wife Amy; his mother, Vidala Blalock; his brother Craig Blalock; two grandchildren, Angel Blalock and his partner Marisol and Katelynn Phillips and husband Jared; and two great grandchildren, Daniel Blalock and Athena Phillips, and nieces and nephews.
