Crystal Marie Cross, 66, of Owego, passed away on August 30, 2025, following a brief illness. Born on February 27, 1959, to the late Weller H. and Harriet A. (Westgate) Barrett, Crystal's life was a tapestry woven with the joys of family, friends, and commitment to her community.
Crystal will be greatly missed by her husband Kevin D. Cross, her brother Merwin “Mer” Barrett and his wife Joanna, her sister Hazel Barrett, along with several nieces, nephews, extended family, as well as her best friend Heather Card and her husband Doug.
In addition to her parents, Crystal was predeceased by her siblings, Rev. Paul Barrett, William Barrett, and Norene Barrett, and her former husband Barry Rainaud.
An active member of her community, Crystal served on the board of directors as the secretary for the Northern Tioga Chamber of Commerce for a number of years. Her altruistic spirit found another home with the Campville Fire District, where she dedicated countless hours as an EMT, Secretary, and even President. Her contributions to these organizations were not merely acts of service but expressions of her deep-rooted belief in the value of community and the importance of giving back.
Crystal’s hands were rarely still, often working on a new craft project, or a puzzle. Her crafting skills were matched by her love for canning, always eager to can anything and everything from vegetables in her garden to milk.
Crystal's home was a haven for warmth and laughter, often filled with the sounds of friendly banter during her much-loved game nights. She was also an avid camper, finding peace in the company of her family and friends next to a warm campfire.
