Peter V. Earle

Peter Van Cortlandt Earle, 92, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026. Born on January 27, 1934, in Goshen, New York, he was the son of Rowland and Mary (Sharts) Earle. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Mary E. "Molly" Earle.

Peter is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Shirley Walton Earle; his son, Peter Scott Earle and daughter-in-law, Kathleen Hum; and his son, David Van Cortlandt Earle. He took quiet pride in their lives and accomplishments.

He graduated from Goshen High School before earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Psychology from Ursinus College. Peter began his career at IBM in Owego, New York, where he spent many dedicated years in Human Resource Management and formed lasting friendships. After retiring from IBM in 1994, he continued his professional journey with Lockheed Martin until his retirement in 1999.

Peter's renowned vegetable garden grew as a beloved neighborhood landmark. His carefully crafted woodworking creations blessed his family while faithfully serving the household. A man of faith, Peter was a devoted member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, where he served on the Vestry for many years.

A funeral service will be held at a later date.
