CSM Tony Williams, 55 years old, of Schertz, Texas, went to go be with the Lord surrounded by his loving family. Born November 13, 1967, in Seale, Alabama to Betty Williams. As a young child, Tony enjoyed church, fishing, school, basketball, football and playing in the band. As an adult Tony enjoyed spending time in his backyard tending to his gardening, barbecuing, and making memories with his wife Mable and four children. Tony was devoted to his family and serving his country.
During his life Tony wore many hats: father, husband, soldier, girl scout leader, boy scout leader, coach, personal trainer, caretaker, pit master, therapist, teacher, mentor, karaoke king, and superman.
He married Mable Owens-Williams, May 6, 1988, in New Orleans, Louisiana. They met when Tony was 17 and Mable was 18. Tony graduated from high school in 1985, from Elanor McMain High School, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Tony joined the United States Army in 1988 and served until August 2020. Throughout Tony's military career as an 68W Army Combat Medic, he received many medals and decorations. He acquired an Associate's in science from the University of South Carolina, a Bachelor of Science degree in sociology from Troy State University Dothan and Master's of Science in Management from Troy State University. Tony's awards and decoration included the Bronze Star Medal (1 OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (6 OLC), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (5 OLC), Army Achievement (5 OLC), Army Superior Unit Award (Permanent Award), Army Good Conduct Medal (8th Award), National Defense Service Medal (1 Bronze Star), Korean Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with two Campaign Stars, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, NCO Professional Development (6th Numeral), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (4 Award), Gold Schutzenschnur - Expert European Weapon Badge, Recruiter Badge (Gold), Air Assault Wings, Combat Medic Badge, Expert Field Medical Badge, and Drivers Badge (W). He is also a member of the Order of Military Medical Merit (02M3) and the prestigious Sergeant Audie Murphy Club.
Tony was a kind loving partner to his spouse, Mable Owens-Williams, as well as an amazing father to their three daughters Toni, Tonika, Mable and one son Tony Williams. Tony's favorite quote was from Maya Angelou "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel."
Aside from being survived by his loving wife Mable Williams for 35 years and four children. Tony also leaves behind his mother Betty (Carl) Williams, and brother Anthony (Misty) Williams, brother Armin Williams, sister Marie Brigandi (Peter) and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in his passing by his father Jesse Phillips, his grandmother Mary Agnes Evans, Grandmother Willie Pearl Phillips and numerous aunts and uncles.
A Funeral Service for Tony will be held at Schertz Funeral Home on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at 11:00 AM, with a Visitation for the public beginning at 10:00 AM. The Graveside Service will be the following day on Friday, June 2, 2023 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 9:30 AM - Shelter #3.
