Curt Ross Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Heritage Funeral Home - El Dorado on Dec. 5, 2025.
ROSS, CURT ALLEN, 68, born in 1957 in Emporia, Kansas, passed away surrounded by the love of family and friends who cherished him deeply.

Curt was the son of Jim and Martha Ross, and was preceded in death by his father, Jim; his brother, Mark; and his beloved son, Jace. He is survived by his mother, Martha; his brother, Scott; his children Jordan, Jessie, Jaron, and Jennifer Ross; his grandchildren Lorenzo and Valentina Ontiveros; and many nieces and nephews as well as extended family members and friends who will carry his memory forward.

A proud graduate of El Dorado High School's Class of 1975, Curt later earned his degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Oklahoma. His career in the oil fields was more than just work-It was his passion. He spent much of his life doing what he loved, building relationships, solving problems, and lending his expertise wherever it was needed.

Much of his career was spent on the road. Among his travels, the Black Hills held a special place in his heart, especially Deadwood, South Dakota, where he found a true home away from home. There, he built lasting friendships and countless memories. When he was back home, he was always immersed in a project-whether building houses, woodworking or restoring old motorcycles.

Curt was the center of attention at gatherings-the one whose humor and energy made everyone feel like family. He had a gift for creating laughter with his sarcasm and an unwavering willingness to lend a hand to anyone in need. His warmth was matched only by his love for dogs, who were always an important part of his life and home.

His legacy of generosity, loyalty, and sarcastic sense of humor will forever remain with those who knew him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

A memorial gathering for Curt will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on December 20, 2025 at Greenwood Hotel, 110 E. 3rd St., Eureka, Kansas
