Curtis Milton Applewhite of Belton, 91, died March 16, 2026, at 7 o'clock in the morning.

He is predeceased by his parents, Charles Augustus Applewhite and Lilly May Carithers Applewhite. He is also predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Patricia Jackson Applewhite. Surviving are his two sons, Michael Applewhite (Teresa) and Blake Applewhite (Paula), both of Anderson County. Also surviving is his younger brother, Charles Applewhite (Barbara) also of Anderson. Milton was the revered grandfather of five grandchildren; Kelsey Applewhite, Leah Applewhite Galli (Travis), Jacob Applewhite (Olivia), Dillon Applewhite and Connor Applewhite.

Milton was born on October 25, 1934, in Georgia. He graduated from Anderson High School in 1955. Milton was drafted into the United States Army and spent two years stationed in Germany as a Sergeant. After leaving full-time service, Milton continued to serve in the National Guard. In June of 1959, he had his first date with future wife Pat, and the pair were married by August. They welcomed their first son Michael in 1962 and second son Blake in 1964. Milton spent most of his career as a land surveyor, earning certifications from Clemson University.

Milton lived in constant pursuit of knowledge, dedicating many years to attending Bible classes at Anderson University. He was a founding member of River Street Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for more than 30 years. He also played the organ and piano and could often be heard "making a joyful noise" from his pew each Sunday. Milton enjoyed daily morning Bible studies with his wife, Pat. Milton had a passion for golf and aviation. In 1980, he earned his private pilot's license and was a Freemason for many years. Milton was a pillar of faith for all those around him, a devoted husband, and a wonderful father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed.
