Curtis Brown, born on March 1, 1958, was a beloved man who touched the hearts of all who knew him. As a child, he was raised in
New Kent, Virginia, and later graduated from New Kent High School in 1976. In 1978, Curtis married his devoted wife, Cindy. They were married for 45 years and together they had four children: Patirece, Telisha, Curtis Jr., and Destinee. Curtis had a lasting commitment to his loved ones.
Curtis had a strong sense of duty and joined the United States Army in August of 1976. During his 13 years of service, he received several awards, including a Good Conduct Medal (with Bronze, 3 loops), the NCO Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 1), the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon, and the Expert Badge (Rifle and Hand Grenade). In October of 1986, Curtis was Honorably Discharged from the army after serving for over 13 years. In 1991, his family relocated to
Panama City, Florida.
Curtis had many passions, including his love for sweets, especially his sweet potato pie, spending time with his granddaughter Maya, dancing, keeping his grass cut and cars clean and pristine. He was a devoted Facilities Engineer at Rosenwald High School for over 20 years and committed 5 years of hard work to Trane. A devout Christian who lived his life with unwavering faith, Curtis was active in his church community at Living Word Church.
He had a unique way of saying "man" that will always be remembered by those who knew him. Curtis's legacy will live on in the memories of those who loved him, and his presence will be missed dearly.
Curtis is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Malinda Brown; his brother, Alfred Brown; his sister, Flora Christian; his aunt, Elizabeth Minor; and his uncle, Roland Minor.
Curtis leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Cyndia Brown; four children, Patirece Brown, Telisha Brown, Curtis Brown Jr. (Tosha), and Destinee Brown; one granddaughter, Maya Adeleye; two brothers, Roger Brown (Betty) and Robert Brown, Jr.; two aunts, Phyllis Minor and Maryland Minor; one uncle, Bernard Minor (Sharon); mother-in-law, Lillie Anderson (Grandma) and host of in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Living Word Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Serving as pallbearers are Willie Anderson, Lance Curry, Jimmie Adkin, Justin Best, Gerald Anderson and Willie Yumas.
