Curtis John Castille, age 81, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2025, surrounded by his beloved family. A lifelong resident of Breaux Bridge, Curtis was known for his unwavering work ethic, caring spirit, and deep love for his family and community.
Curtis shared nearly 60 years of marriage with his devoted wife, Mickie Castille. Above all else, Curtis cherished his family, who were the heart of his world. Though his family was small, they were tightly knit and the bonds they shared were strong and enduring. He is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, April and Al Goodyear, and Carrie Castille and Robert Robichaux; and his four grandchildren and their spouses, Alex and Stevie Goodyear, Megan and Joel Spansel (Joel), André Goodyear, and Joshua Mendoza. Before he passed, he was able to meet his great-grandsons, born six months apart, Scottie Jay Goodyear and Bennett Andre Spansel.
Curtis spent many years as a Foreman at Lafayette Woodworks, but he is most fondly remembered for his three decades delivering fresh bread for Champagne’s Bakery in Breaux Bridge. His daily visits to Lafayette restaurants made him a familiar and beloved figure, appreciated by staff and patrons alike. He also proudly owned and operated Le Cafe in Breaux Bridge, where his warmth and hospitality left a lasting impression.
Curtis found joy in gardening, caring for his yard, and raising beagles in his rabbit pen. His beagles competed in field trials, a hobby he pursued with pride and dedication. He was also an avid high school football fan and a proud supporter of Breaux Bridge High School, where he once served as President of the Breaux Bridge High School Quarterback Club. Curtis rarely missed a game and loved cheering on the Tigers from the stands.
He spent many mornings sharing coffee and conversation with lifelong friends, many of whom he had known since grade school. Their gatherings were filled with laughter, stories, and the familiar sound of French spoken among old friends. His love for the outdoors, his steady presence, and his deep-rooted friendships will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.
Curtis leaves behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and love that will continue to live on through his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Collins Castille and Eva Castille; grandson, Andre' Jacob Goodyear; son-in-law, Al Goodyear; and his mother-in-law, Lula Mae Picheloup Bakos.
Pallbearers will be Troy Frederick, Lance Frederick, Ryan Frederick, Vince Menard, Kenneth Addison, Jr., Alex Goodyear, Josh Mendoza, and Robert Robichaux.
