It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Curtis Dean Franklin, who departed this life on April 10, 2025, in New Albany, Indiana, at the age of 61. Born on September 10, 1963, in Louisville, Kentucky, Curtis was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, known for his warm spirit and generous heart.
Curtis dedicated his life to a variety of roles, demonstrating remarkable versatility throughout his career. He worked as a clerk, manager, caregiver, and in sales—positions that showcased his skills, adaptability, and unwavering commitment to those he served. His professional journey was a testament to his resilience and dedication.
A proud veteran, Curtis served honorably in the United States Coast Guard, an experience that shaped much of his character and values. His faith as a Christian guided him throughout his life, and he regularly attended services at the Church of God of Prophecy.
Beyond his professional commitments, Curtis was equally passionate about his hobbies and interests. He was an extraordinary cook and baker, with a particular fondness for baking bread—banana bread being his specialty. Curtis’s nurturing spirit extended to his family and community; he was always ready with a helping hand and a kind heart. His fun-loving nature brought laughter into countless lives, as he enjoyed telling jokes, pulling playful pranks, and amusing his nieces and nephews with antics that included the infamous wet willie.
Curtis took immense pride in his family, a constant source of happiness and fulfillment. He married his beloved wife, Denise Manley Franklin, in 1996, and over more than 28 years together, they created a treasure trove of memories filled with love and companionship. Curtis shared a particularly close bond with his daughter, Abby Haulk, who he affectionately regarded as "daddy's girl." The relationship Curtis had with his grandsons, Eli and Houston, brought him indescribable joy; he often expressed that they “hung the moon and stars.” Additionally, Curtis showed love for his fur-babies, Carmel and Layla, who were also part of his cherished family.
He leaves behind his devoted wife, Denise; beloved daughter Abby and her husband Rusty; grandsons Eli and Houston; sister Tina Vest; brother James Franklin and his wife Penny; many nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and a vast extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.
