With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Curtis Franklin Jenkins Sr., affectionately known as Pony, who departed this world on May 11, 2025, with his family by his side.
Curtis was born on March 10, 1941, at Fitkin Memorial Hospital in Neptune, New Jersey. He attended Brielle Elementary School and graduated from Manasquan High School, where he was recognized for his exceptional talent as a star football player. His athletic skills earned him a scholarship to Tennessee State University. Additionally, he served honorably in the National Guard. Curtis began his career as a truck driver for Dave Parish and later worked for several moving companies. Pony couldn't sit still: he also had experience in construction, plumbing, and various other trades, demonstrating his versatility as an all-around jack of all trades.
Pony had an undeniable passion for riding, whether it was his bicycle, motorcycle, or the iconic Corvettes that had become a cherished sight in the community. His enthusiasm for hot rods made him a well-known figure, and he was adored for his infectious energy and sharp wit. A gifted dancer, he had a remarkable ability to keep his friends in stitches with his hilarious anecdotes and lively storytelling. Curtis was a devoted animal lover, finding immense joy in the companionship of his cherished cat, Yellowback. His spirit and warmth left a lasting impact on those around him.
Curtis is survived by his three children, Todd, Kendra, and Curtis Junior, as well as a host of grandchildren. He was a beloved son to Robert and Patricia Jenkins and the cherished grandchild of Frank and Nettie Nance. Curtis shared his childhood with his siblings: Marie (married to George, deceased), Leo (deceased, married Ann, deceased), and Robert Jr. (married to Sally). Curtis is survived by Kim Robinson, his lifelong friend and mother to Curtis Jr., and his nieces and nephews, including Patricia Jenkins, Paula Slaten, Penny Warren, George Brown Junior (deceased), and Darin Brown.
Family and friends are invited to the Brielle First Aid Building, 710 Old Bridge Rd, Brielle, NJ 08730, from 1pm-3pm on Friday, May 30, 2025, to reminisce and honor the life of Curtis Franklin Jenkins Sr.
Services are entrusted to Jersey Shore Cremation, 43 Taylor Avenue, Manasquan.
