Funeral services for Curtis Lamar Kirksey, 71, of Butler will be held on Sunday, March 26, 2023 at 4:00 pm New Prospect Baptist Church with Pastor Jeff Henry and Chaplain Robbie Passmore officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 pm prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Curtis passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023, at his home. He became an ordained pastor in 1995 and has loved serving the Lord since that time. He was currently pastor of New Prospect Baptist Church. He loved his family and enjoyed working with his sons in construction work.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Bertha Young Kirksey; five brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Trudy Kirksey; four children, Stacy Harris of Unadilla, Todd Kirksey (Christi) of Americus, Duran Kirksey (Heather) of Claxton and Sue DeMoso (Richard) of Mauk; one sister, Mary Helen Cross of Reynolds; seventeen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Prospect Baptist Church, 16 Maesal Street, Butler, GA 31006.
Pallbearers include Trent Kirksey, Kevin Hobbs, C.L. Bass, Bailey Deuel, Bo Bass and Jonathan Palahniuk. Honorary pallbearers include Wayne Cox and Joshua Kirksey.
