Curtis Peterson, (October 10, 1938) age 86, of Savage, MN, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Alice Peterson. Curtis was born in Argyle, Minnesota, and lived a life filled with hard work, love, and faith.
Curtis proudly served in Korea with the United States Army Reserve and graduated from the Northwest School of Agriculture. In 1963, he married the love of his life, Linda Oberg. Together, they built a beautiful life, raising a family and creating countless cherished memories. He then dedicated over 50 years to farming and also worked as a heavy equipment operator, being a proud member of the 49ers Union. In 2004, he retired, sold the farmstead, and moved to Savage, Minnesota, to be closer to his family.
Faith was always a cornerstone of Curtis's life. He was a lifelong member of Bigwood Lutheran Church, a small country church where he worshiped and deepened his relationship with God. His faith remained strong throughout his life, offering him strength and peace, especially in his final years.
In the last six years of his life, Curtis bravely battled ALS with unwavering strength and resilience. Despite the challenges, he continued to cherish time with his loved ones and remained a source of joy and inspiration to all who knew him.
Curtis was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, always putting his loved ones first. He loved his grandchildren: Taylor, Briggs, Maddie (Schertler), Zack and Julia (Peterson), Truman, Audrey, and Graham (Jakway) and was a proud great-grandfather to Skylar, Noah, and Zack Jr. He also enjoyed being "Grandpa" to his step-granddaughter Michelle and her children Lailauni, Jaxton, and Aurora. He found great joy in watching his grandchildren's sporting events and was known for his quick wit and playful sense of humor, always sharing jokes and laughter with his grandkids.
But most importantly, Curtis was a man of deep faith. His love for God was evident in the way he lived his life, and his family takes comfort in knowing they will see him again one day.
Curtis is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Linda; his children, Kelly (Peterson) & Wayne Schertler, Kent & Sheri Peterson, Kimberly (Peterson) & Doug Jakway; his brother, Rodney Peterson; his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1 PM on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at White Funeral Home (12804 Nicollet Ave, Burnsville) with a memorial visitation from 12–1 PM prior to the service. A graveside service with military honors will follow at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.
