Curtiss Pritchard Obituary
Born in West Jefferson, NC on March 11, 1949, a son of the late Charles Pritchard and Arnette Stanaland Pritchard. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Brenda K. Pritchard and brothers Charles Pritchard and Don Pritchard.
Curt was veteran of the United States Marine Corp. and a retired chief of the Ocean Isle Beach Police Department.
Surviving are his sons Curtiss Andrew Pritchard (Lynn) of Ocean Isle Beach, NC and Cale Aaron Pritchard of Galax, VA; grandchildren James Sublett of Ocean Isle Beach, NC, Kimberly Wood (Trey) of White Lake, NC and Caitlynn Pritchard of Galax, VA; great grandchildren Wells Wood and Payton Wood.
A Celebration of Curt's Life is scheduled for Friday, February 13, 2026 at 11:00 AM in the Brunswick Funeral Service Shallotte Chapel (5229 Ocean Hwy West, Shallotte, NC 28470) officiated by the Reverend Jason L. Benton. A private burial family only will follow in the Brunswick Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made in honor of Curt to the American Kidney Fund, https://give.kidneyfund.org or 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 300, Rockville, MD 20852.

I worked with Curt at the Pompano Beach, FL police department for several years and when he moved back to West Jefferson he talked me into coming up and buying a lot to build a log cabin up there. Bought the lot but got cold feet and sold it a couple years later. Wish I had kept it, it sure was a nice area. He was a good cop and you could always count on him.

My condolences and prayers go out to Curt´s family. I worked for the NC Marine Patrol, and I would often stop by to visit with Curt. He was always willing to help us out in any way possible. I always had a place to wash my boat off, and to clean up after putting up signs. Curt was always approachable, and I could contact him anytime day or night. Curt was an exemplary leader, and was well respected by his officers and the community he served. Rest in peace, dear friend.

We lost a true American Hero who has gone through Hell and Back fighting for those he took an oath to serve and protect. I went through a Police Academy in 1972 with Curt. I visited him in rehab in Shallotte and found his sense of humor still intact when talking about old times at the PD.
I will truly miss Curt and our recalling memories of the old days.
God Bless the new angel on duty in Heaven.

Cale, Curt,and family, I'm so sorry for your loss. Your dad was an amazing man. That we loved dearly. He brought us to OIB where we found our second home. He was one of my dads mentors and friend in their early years in law enforcement. He will be missed. RIP Chief
