Custin Robert J.

Robert "Bob" James Custin was born January 11, 1959 to Bette and Robert Custin in Wilmington, DE. He grew up & still lived in the same house. He attended Richey, Krebs, Conrad and received an MBA University of DE. His family spent summers in Fenwick Island where his love for eating steamed crabs began & he was an avid crab picker. He loved sports and was a Conrad Alum sports booster helping with concessions and dances. He enjoyed attending Conrad football games. Bob retired from the State of Delaware in 2019 after his career as a Computer Network Admin.
He played basketball, football and volleyball, but volleyball was his favorite. He started and coordinated a church volleyball league on Friday evenings where he met his wife, Jean. Bob loved the Lord and was known for his volleyball charity tournaments. He started the league and charity tournaments at St. Mark's United Methodist. The league expanded to 46 teams involving 10 churches. Bob and Jean married at Westminster Presbyterian, and he later joined Concord Presbyterian. Bob enjoyed fantasy football and baseball, winning most of his teams. Bob was a thoughtful and caring individual with a great sense of humor. He will be lovingly missed.
His parents and sister, Barb Poff, predeceased him as well as his Father and Mother-in-law, Emmett and Ann Jacobs. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Jean M.; brother in-law & wife, Allen Jacobs (Alena) and their children, Alec Jacobs and Ginny Cook, and their families, Andrew Ja cobs and Alex Jacobs; brother in-law Ken Poff, nephew, Adam Poff, niece Meghan DiPaola and their families.
Please join in celebration of Bob's life at a viewing to be held at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home (3710 Kirkwood Hwy, Wilmington, DE 19808) on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 from 5:30pm - 7:30pm. A Service of Celebration will be held on March 2, 2024, 11:00am at Westminster Presbyterian (1502 W 13th St, Wilmington DE 19806). Sports attire is welcomed to celebrate Bob.
