Cymanthia Van Matre, 85, of Alma, passed away Saturday, August 20, 2022 at her home. She was born February 11, 1937 in San Antonio to the late Barney and Clara (White) Jacobs.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, I.L. Van Matre, Sr.; two sisters, Rosie Webel and Sarah Bauer; and six brothers, Leroy, Frank, Raymond, Arvie, Daniel, and George Jacobs.
She is survived by two daughters, Annette Stanley and Sharon Gragg and husband Freddie, all of Quinton, OK; two sons, Lee Van Matre and Leslie Van Matre, both of Alma; a sister, Bulah Shipman of Comfort, TX; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren, and sixteen great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 25, 2022 at the Quinton Cemetery in Quinton, OK, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Kenny Sills, Daniel Van Matre, Rodney Van Matre, LaDon Gragg, Jeremy Gragg, Chad Gragg, Scott Gragg, Josh Van Matre, and Ryan Van Matre. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters, Charlotte Easley, Charlene Massey, Jessica Lewis, Cymanthia Van Matre, and Cheryl Turpin.
The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.
