Cynthia Ann Behrends, the daughter of Delbert and LaVonne (Plagman) Schuknecht was born September 18, 1946 in Paullina, IA. Her childhood years were spent in the Greenville and Rossie, IA area, where she attended school and graduated from Greenville Rossie High School in 1964. She then attended Mankato Commercial College.
Cynthia married Ronald Behrends on September 26, 1965 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Royal, IA. She worked as a school secretary at Audubon Jr. High School and the Spencer Public Library for 26 years until her retirement in 2011. Cynthia enjoyed 4-H work, reading, sewing, embroidery, traveling, fishing, playing cards, especially 500, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Gideon Auxiliary and Bethlehem Royal Lutheran Church in Royal, IA.
Cynthia passed away on Monday, July 3, 2023 at Spencer Hospital at the age of 76. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother-in-law Donald Whitman, and sister-in-law Mary Schuknecht.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Ronald of Spencer, IA; 4 children, Wanda (Bryan) Pankratz of Prior Lake, MN, Teresa Mohlis of Garner, IA, Ann Marie (Chris) Phelps of Sioux Rapids, IA, and Kyle (Rachel) Behrends of Duluth, MN; 14 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; one sister, Linda Brooks of Fairmont, MN; one brother, Steven (Maureen) Schuknecht of Albert City, IA; 2 brothers-in-law, Randy Behrends of Havertown, PA and Raymond Behrends of Osage, IA; other relatives; and many friends.
