Cynthia Chakar Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 25, 2018.
Cynthia "Cindy" Sue Chakar returned to her heavenly home on January 21, 2018 after a valiant battle with several illnesses. Cindy will be forever remembered by her three children, Heather Cole, Jessica Marmolejo and Mohamed Chakar and by her brother and sister, Raymond Wigfield and Carolyn Reid. Cindy will also be lovingly remembered by her five grandchildren (Allyson, Stephen, Samuel, Madelyn and Lucas) and by her extended family and dear friends.

Cindy was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana to parents Helen Louise Henry and Raymond Claude Wigfield. She had a blessed childhood in the suburbs of Fort Wayne and was involved in many activities including Brownies, Girl Scouts, choir, tumbling, tap dancing, skating, bowling and swim teams. After high school she completed two years at Junior College.

Cindy moved to Houston, Texas in 1978 and joined the mortgage industry. She was married twice and had three children.

Cindy was known for her huge heart and her grace and consideration for others. She was loving and inclusive of everyone she met and was quick to help others in their time of need, even if she had to sacrifice her own comforts. If someone needed a place to stay or a ride anywhere, she would offer her home and her car. She never forgot a birthday and it was important to her to stay connected to all her friends and family. Many described her as "the sweetest lady they ever met." She was a friend, mother figure and spiritual counselor to those in need.

Cindy was a passionate gift-giver and she loved holiday gatherings. She loved to sing and had a beautiful voice. Her kids have very fond memories of singing together throughout their childhood. Cindy also loved reading (mostly historical romance novels), writing (she even wrote her own regency romance novel), going to the beach, watching movies, the color red, angels and penguins.

A funeral service and reception in remembrance of Cindy will be held on Monday, January 29, 2018 at 11am at Second Baptist Church – West Campus in the Williams House Building located at 19449 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77094.

She will be laid to rest at 3pm in the Forest Park Cemetery located at 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77077.

Jessica, Mohamed and Family - I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your loving mom, grandma, aunt and sister. My thoughts are with all of you during this sorrowful time. I didn't know Cindy all that well but the precious time I did get to spend with her while we were in-laws, she was the sweetest woman, warm, caring and thougtful. She always remembered Samantha and Robert here in Indiana during holidays and special occasions. Such a thoughtful aunt. She was a blessing to the Wigfield family. I will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers and may God's love and blessings keep you and give you confort during this difficult time. Much love, Cindy Wigfield

I was so sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. She was such a dear and loving soul. The best childhood friend, ever! (more like a cousin, really). Although I can't be with all of you, I am sending you and your family a hug from afar.
