Cynthia Elaine Forbush

Cynthia "Elaine" Forbush a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, cousins and friend passed away at her home October 1, 2024 in Canton, Mississippi, following a long and courageous battle with COPD. She will be laid to rest next to her loving husband of 38 years, Don, who preceded her in death in 2021. Elaine was 82 years old.
Born June 15th, 1943, in Canton, Mississippi. Elaine was the daughter of John W. and Annie B. Steen. Before graduating Canton High School in 1961, she started working in the banking industry as a teller, leading into a career as a Bookkeeper. Her career path led her to Albert Moore Home Builder & Insurance Agency (Pearl, MS) where she was a loyal & dedicated employee for 46 years.
Elaine's favorite past-time was reading her Kindle while relaxing on her back porch swing. She also enjoyed cooking for her visiting family, sewing and was very creative at cross-stitching.
She was a proud and long-time member Parkway Pentecostal Church, Madison and attended as often has her frail health would allow. Some of her closest friendships grew from fellowship amongst the ladies of the church.
Leaving behind to honor and cherish her memory are her children, Tambra Johnson of Canton; Jennifer Johnson Loeffler (Harry) of New Bern, NC; Andy Ashley (Lydia) of Edinburg; Step-daughter Tami Forbush Boyette (David) of Tallahassee, FL; Seven Grandchildren, Amber Bond (Ed) of Panama City, FL; Chelsea Peyton (Chris) of Tallahassee, FL; Adrianna McRaney (Austin) of Edinburg, MS; Courtney Harper (Mike) of Carthage, MS; Matthew Ashley of Edinburg; ShanMei Loeffler of Durham, NC and HuaXun Loeffler of New Bern, NC ; thirteen great-grandchildren, nephews and numerous extended family members and friends who will miss her deeply.
Along with her parents, and beloved husband Donald L. Forbush (Don), Elaine is preceded in death by sister, Ann Hitsman; and brothers Kenneth Steen and Johnny Steen.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, October 7th at Lone Pine Baptist Church Cemetery, Canton, MS with Pastor Jimmy Cain officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow the service at her home.
Heartfelt thanks to Traditions Hospice & Palliative Care, Ridgeland, especially Ariel, Kaitlyn, Jennifer and Shay. Their compassionate care and unwavering support brought comfort and peace during a difficult time. Their kindness will always be remembered with deep gratitude.
