Cynthia L. Goward, of New Haven, passed away surrounded by the love of her family. Cynthia lived a life marked by compassion, community service, and creativity.
Beloved wife of William Goward. The two were married in 1970 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Rochester, beginning a beautiful partnership rooted in love and family.
She was the devoted mother of Tina (Tom) Gittens, William (Danielle) Goward Jr., and Amy (David) Baldwin. Cherished grandmother of 12 and proud great-grandmother of 6. Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents, Marjorie and Stanley Kinsman. Her family was her greatest joy, and she poured her heart into every role she held-as a mother, grandmother, mentor, and friend.
A dedicated public servant, Cynthia served as Commissioner of New Haven, where her leadership and compassion left a lasting mark on the community. She was instrumental in founding the New Haven Food Pantry, ensuring that families in need received care and support. Her selfless spirit was recognized through the Good Samaritan Award, an honor that reflected her deep commitment to helping others.
Cynthia also shared her artistic talents as the owner of *Floral Images*, where her floral designs brought beauty and joy to many. Known for her warm heart and vibrant personality, she loved shopping-especially for her favorite brands, Ralph Lauren and Coach-and took great pride in organizing New Haven's annual Fourth of July bike parades, which became a beloved local tradition.
Cynthia's kindness, style, and dedication to her family and community will be remembered by all who knew her. Her legacy continues in the lives she touched and the town she helped shape.
